The holiday season is coming! 🎅✨    
Christmas is just around the corner, and there’s a lot happening on the island — from beach parties to cozy family dinners and twinkling lights everywhere. But honestly, on Curaçao there’s always something to celebrate! The island’s vibrant culture, music, and sunshine make every month feel like a festival.  

Public Holidays in Curaçao
New Year’s Day (January 1)
  • Lots of fireworks and traditions like lighting pagaras (long strings of firecrackers).
  • Families gather to celebrate, and most businesses are closed.
Carnival (February/March – depends on Easter)
  • The biggest celebration on the island! Expect huge parades, glitter, music, dance, and colorful costumes.
    Highlights include:
    • Tumba Festival (music competition)
    • Children’s Parade
    • Grand Parade (Gran Marcha)
    • Farewell Parade (Marcha di Despedida)
Seu – Harvest Festival (March/April)
  • A traditional parade where people in traditional dress dance through the streets.
  • Originally a harvest celebration of the Afro-Caribbean community.
King’s Day (April 27)
  • Celebrated with street markets, music, parties, and orange outfits.
  • Especially popular among Dutch residents.
Labour Day (May 1)
  • A national holiday, often marked by political or social gatherings.
Flag Day (July 2)
  • National holiday celebrating Curaçao’s autonomous status within the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
  • Features parades, speeches, and cultural events.
Christmas (December 25–26)
  • A major family celebration with lots of food and music.
  • The whole island lights up with decorations and fireworks, and there are fun events and parties everywhere.

Festivals and Events You Can’t Miss
Curaçao North Sea Jazz Festival (usually late August or early September)
  • An international music festival featuring world-famous artists — for example, Snoop Dogg performed this year!
Kaya Kaya Street Festival (several times a year)
  • A creative street festival in Otrobanda filled with art, dance, food, and music.
  • Very popular among both locals and tourists.
Curaçao Pride (September)
  • A joyful Pride Week with parades, parties, and workshops.
  • Shows that Curaçao is becoming more inclusive every year.
Fuikdag (first Sunday of January)
  • A legendary boat party in Fuik Bay — you can only get there by boat!
  • Expect DJs, drinks, and floating fun under the sun.
