Make Your House Easier to Sell

Selling a home is not something you do every day, which is exactly why it can feel extra exciting—and sometimes stressful. We are often asked how to properly prepare a home for sale in Curaçao and when a property is truly ready for the professional photo and video shoot.

The first impression of potential buyers is decisive, which makes proper presentation absolutely essential. Below, we share practical tips to ensure your home looks its best for photos, videos, and viewings.

Exterior Appearance & First Impression

The outside of your home is your first calling card. Make sure it looks fresh and well maintained:

  • Remove trash bins, bicycles, and loose items

  • Sweep the street and remove as much weeds and greenery as possible

  • Trim plants and mow the lawn if necessary

  • If you have parking on your own property: remove your car

  • Avoid cars parked in front of the house as much as possible, as they block the view

Once the outside is neat and tidy, we move indoors.

Entrance & Hallway

Many homes in Curaçao do not have a traditional hallway, but if your home does, make sure it is free of boxes and clutter. A lived-in feeling is fine, but too much personal clutter distracts buyers.

Toilet tip:

  • Keep the toilet as empty and clean as possible

  • No toilet paper rolls, cleaning products, or brushes in sight

  • Lower the toilet seat

Living Room

The living room is one of the most important areas of the home. Create a calm, spacious atmosphere:

  • Remove remote controls, bags, shoes, and mail

  • Avoid too many small accessories

  • One larger decorative item is better than many small ones

  • A fruit bowl with a fresh pineapple always works well

  • Keep window sills neat and uncluttered

  • Open or raise window coverings for more light and space

This allows the garden to visually connect with the living space and makes the room feel larger and brighter.

Kitchen

The kitchen should appear clean, organized, and hygienic:

  • Clear as many loose items from the countertop as possible

  • Remove tea towels and dishcloths

  • Tidy kitchen racks

  • No magnets, drawings, or notes on the refrigerator

  • A fruit bowl adds a fresh and welcoming touch

Bedrooms

Create a hotel-style atmosphere in the bedrooms:

  • No loose clothing on chairs

  • Remove bathrobes, shoes, and slippers from view

  • Make the bed tight and tidy

  • Add a bedspread or extra cushions if needed

  • In children’s rooms: tidy up toys as much as possible

Bathrooms

In the bathroom, aim for that same hotel-like appearance:

  • Remove shampoo bottles and personal care items

  • No toothbrushes on the sink

  • Remove bath mats

  • If you have a shower curtain, remove it for minimal distraction

  • Laundry baskets should be empty or out of sight

  • Add a neatly folded towel for a fresh accent

Backyard

The backyard follows the same rules as the front:

  • Keep everything neat and tidy

  • Place cushions neatly in outdoor furniture

  • Consider taking an extra photo with the sunshade open for atmosphere
